John Hersey H.S. @ Carnegie Hall, with performances by UI faculty

The music department at John Hersey High School will once again be gracing the main stage at Carnegie Hall. Several members of the U of I Music faculty will be joining them on stage. Pre-concert drinks across the street!

The Symphonic Orchestra, Choral Ensembles, and Symphonic Bands at John Hersey High School in the northwest suburbs of Chicago are some of the most renowned high school music organizations in the country.  This is not their first trip to Carnegie Hall, but this time they will also be joined by several esteemed members of the University of Illinois Music Department faculty:  Director of Orchestras, Dr. Donald Schlecher, Director of Bands, Dr. Stephen Peterson, and Voice Professor and Director of the Black Chorus, Dr. Ollie Watts Davis, soprano.

U of I alumni are offerred a 50% discount to attend the concert, and all are welcome to stop by the Redeye Grill across the street for a cocktail or two beforehand.  We anticipate that some of the family and friends of the Hersey students will join us there as well.
