Scholarship Info
The Metro NY Illini Club offers scholarships to incoming freshmen from the local area on an annual basis. The scholarships are sponsored by the proud members of the Metro NY Illini Club on behalf of over 10,000 Illinois alumni in the NY, NJ & CT area.
2024 Freshman Scholarships
This year our alumni organization will be awarding one $5,000 scholarship, to be awarded on the basis of academic achievement and leadership potential.
Eligibility requirements:
- Acceptance into the Freshman Class at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for the 2024 Fall Semester;
- Your current, permanent home address must be in the Greater New York Area (as defined by the University of Illinois Admissions Department); and
- Enrollment as a full-time undergraduate student at the time the award is paid.
To apply:
- Complete the online application
- Email a copy of your high school transcript, and your SAT and/or ACT scores (if taken) to scholarship@nycillini.org
- Ensure that your High School Faculty Reference has emailed a letter of recommendation on your behalf to scholarship@nycillini.org
The application deadline is Friday May 10, 2024 at 6 PM Eastern.
PLEASE NOTE that if your high school or your teachers/counselors will be sending official high school transcripts and/or letters of recommendation separately from your application, it is your responsibility to notify them in advance of the deadline and to followup with them in order to ensure that all application materials are sent no later than May 10, 2024 (If you are notified of your admission to the University after February 1 and you need to extend the deadline for your application, please contact our scholarship chairperson, Tony D'Anzica, directly at scholarship@nycillini.org.)
Finalists will be required to participate in an interview with a Scholarship Committee member. The Scholarship Committee will endeavor to notify all scholarship recipients by May 24, 2024. Scholarship awards will be paid directly to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and scholarship recipients will be credited upon registering for the Fall Semester.
