bigtenlgbtBig apple big Ten Pride mixer at stonewall

June is World LGBT Pride Month as well as the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which launched the gay liberation movement.  Celebrate with Big Ten LGBT alumni, friends, and str8 allies at the start of it all - the Stonewall Inn itself!

Pride Month is a month to celebrate gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and asexual people, plus all other sexual orientations and genders.  The month is celebrated in June in commemoration of the Stonewall Riots, which kicked off the first major demonstrations for gay rights in America.  On June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, but bar patrons - gay men and drag queens - fought back, a spontaneous incident which is now marked as the beginning of the gay rights movement in the United States.  We are excited to announce that our friends at the Michigan State University Alumni Club of Greater New York have a connection at Stonewall, and have secured space for us there for this year's Big Apple Big Ten Pride Mixer.  Please join us for this celebration of LGBT pride!!
